Hot Shoeing
and other services explained...
HOT SHOEING:
Hot Shoeing provides many benefits over cold shoeing! Hot Shoeing creates a smooth interface surface between the shoe and the hoof, allows for a flatter hoof surface, and seals the cut tubules (from trimming the foot) to prevent the foot from drying out in dry climate, or softening in wet environments. It is also argued that hot shoeing kills bacteria that may be present on the foot, making disease less likely to occur. *
SUPPORT/WEDGE PADS:
Wedge pads are mainly used for, but not limited to:
-
Navicular syndrome
-
Suspensory issues
-
Managing unbalanced feet that cannot be corrected with a simple trim.
POUR IN PADS:
Pour in pads are used any time a leather or synthetic pad is applied. These prevent dirt and mud from getting in between the foot and the pad, which can cause problems with integrity, and discomfort for your horse.
Pour in pads also provide extra protection to the sole and frog of the hoof, preventing further trauma.

GLUE ON SHOES:
If, for any reason, a shoe cannot be placed on a foot the traditional way, glue on shoes may be a good option. These shoes are bonded to the feet with glue in place of nails. The time frame between appointments is usually the same as regular shoes.

TOE/QUARTER CLIPS
Clips on a shoe ensure a better fit to the hoof. It prevents the shoe from slipping or shearing off nails, which commonly happens when the shoe is shod with more traction, or the horse's conformation creates an abnormality in their stride.
